World Rugby Museum to hold duplicates sale

The World Rugby Museum is organising a one-off duplicate sale this November 2026. This is a unique opportunity to build a personal or club heritage portfolio as unique collectibles will be made available for sale at very reasonable prices.

The World Rugby Museum opened as the Museum of Rugby in March 1996. Since then it has developed its collection via many kind donations from ex-rugby players, rugby administrators and members of the public. Often these donations include multiple objects or books, some of which the museum may already have.

The museum has taken the decision not to collect more than two copies of any particular item. In addition to these duplicate materials, there are a number of objects that no longer meet the museum's collecting criteria. These range from signed jerseys to historic trophies. The museum believes it is in the interests of the wider sporting heritage community to make these surplus items available to other institutions and collectors who might derive benefit from them.

Any proceeds received from the sale of these items will be used either to a) develop the museum's collection in accordance with its collecting criteria b) share more of the collection with visitors via special exhibition programmes.

The World Rugby Museum remains extremely grateful to all who have donated material since 1996 and encourages others to continue to come forward with material that they think may have a natural home within the museum.

The sale will take place throughout the month of November 2026. If you would like to be kept informed, please email [email protected] and ask for the sale pack.
