The World Rugby Museum has achieved national recognition for the quality and importance of its collection. 'Designated status' is reserved for collections of 'outstanding national and international importance' and Arts Council England have now judged that the World Rugby Museum's collection meets this criteria.

A retrospective capping ceremony took place at the World Rugby Museum, Allianz Stadium on 8 June 2026 following the RFU's decision to formally recognise 48 former players who have represented England against international opposition between 1945 and 1993, but in matches that were not considered full Tests.

To coincide with this year’s Calcutta Cup clash, a new painting has been unveiled at the World Rugby Museum. Commissioned by Oliver Donovan and painted by Robert Highton, the artwork recreates a famous lost painting from the 1880s.
