New Special Exhibition Coming Soon

The World Rugby Museum are proud to announce of new Special Exhibition 'Aussie, Aussie, Aussie: The History of Rugby in Australia'. One year out from Australia hosting the 2027 Rugby World Cup, this special exhibition will build excitement by exploring the rich and golden history of rugby union down under.

Starting with an analysis of the myriad indigenous and imported football codes that co-existed in the 19th Century, the exhibition will explain how Rugby League stole a lead on Union and how New South Wales kept the flame alive in the lean years following the First World War.

It will examine the ill-fated 1939 tour, Australia's long rivalry with New Zealand and the Wallabies' glory years either side of the game going professional in 1995. It will celebrate a generation of pioneering Wallaroos, who brought Australia into the international fold and paved the way for the golden success of the Australia Rugby Sevens teams.

Star objects will include matchworn jerseys that belonged to Tommy Lawton, Steve Cutler, John Eales, Libby Andrew and George Smith. Match programmes, tickets, rosettes, postcards and pin badges from the formative years of the game.

The exhibition will open on 4th November 2026 and run for approximately one year. Entry is included with World Rugby Museum and Allianz Stadium Tour tickets.
