Rugby Players on the Front Line

Purpose of Session

This workshop begins by introducing students to historical propaganda posters highlighting the relationship between sportsmen and military institutions. Students will then work in teams to decipher primary and secondary sources, using them to discover the roles of different rugby players who fought in World War I and II*. They will need to assess the reliability of the sources and consider what other information might be useful.

*Workshop can be adapted for either WWI or WWII depending on the school's current curriculum.
