Purpose of the workshop

This workshop introduces students to the principles and consideration involved in creating a world class sports facility in a way that encourages teamwork and communication skills.

Learning Outcomes

  • Consider the environmental impact, and wider implications of construction, in an urban environment.
  • Explore how financial necessities are balanced against human comfort, and cultural prestige, when planning and developing a modern-day sporting venue.
  • Develop basic map-reading and communication skills.

Activities

  • Practical classroom session led by Museum educator.
  • Self-directed tour of the World Rugby Museum galleries.
  • Behind-the-scenes guided tour of Twickenham Stadium.
